The Face Behind the Biz: Meet Mary!
Burt’s Logo Apparel is not only a Fort Collins staple, locally owned business and community-oriented operation – Burt’s is also family run! Burt and his wife, Mary, have been at the helm of Burt’s Logo Apparel for more than 30 years, and we’d like to take a moment for you to get to know Mary.
What was your very first job?
I was 15 years old and worked at the Yuma Country Club.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I worked for a snow and avalanche research center during college and was planning to take a job in Antarctica for a year studying hydrology and working as a cook. As it turned out, love won out and I stayed here with Burt!
What do you love most about your job?
Working with my true love for 33 years and experiencing the thrill of building a great business.
What is your funniest work memory?
In the early years, we pretty much worked all the time. One time, we were working Friday night for a big CSU fraternity job deadline and we had our son, who was about six months old at the time, sleeping in a t-shirt box. Boy, did we get the looks from the frat boys!
What unique skill would you love to possess?
I would love to be a heavy equipment operator for a day.
What is your dream travel spot?
Traveling in my own backyard and experiencing the great national parks of the USA.
There you have it! We hope you enjoyed getting to know Mary. The next time you stop by to order t-shirts, promotional products or to see Burt’s artwork in the First Friday Art Walk, be sure to tell her hi!
